Alex completed a PhD within the Cardiff Catalysis Institute, Cardiff University, UK, in 2018 under the direction of Dr Jennifer Edwards. He then continued his work as a post-doctoral researcher for Professor Graham Hutchings also at the Cardiff Catalysis Institute.Since the end of 2019, Alex has worked as a Research Fellow for Professor He Qian in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at the National University of Singapore.
Research Interests
Novel material preparation for catalysis – The use of microwave and sonochemical synthesis in the preparation of supported nanoparticle catalysis and bulk materials.
In-situ catalyst characterisation using electron microscopy – Using microreactors and in-situ electron microscope holders to probe the relationships between catalyst structure and activity at near-reaction conditions.
Hobbies
Alex enjoys Dragon Boating across Singapore’s Marina Bay in his spare time
